If you are interested in participating in ACS as a volunteer, review the material on the website and follow the instructions below. If you still have any questions feel free to contact us.

Personnel Qualifications

  • The minimum age for ACS volunteers is eighteen.
  • Registration as a California Disaster Service Worker (DSW), required by law to qualify for Worker's Compensation insurance.
  • Volunteers who drive on duty must carry current California auto insurance and a valid driver's license.

             This outlines the responsibilities and expectations of both the Department and the volunteer.

 
Complete:
    Sonoma County Volunteer Application/Contract.
Required for ALL Sonoma County volunteers. Please complete both pages and include your call sign if you are a licensed amateur radio operator. This ensures that the volunteer has received and understands the Volunteer Policies Handbook and the Department Code of Conduct. The contract portion of the form is a simple statement of commitment from both the volunteer and the Department. Either party may terminate the contract at any time for any reason. This form must be signed and returned to the Department of Emergency Services.
    Disaster Service Worker Form
This is required for all ACS participants and is necessary for Worker's Compensation Insurance coverage that is available while performing assigned duties or undergoing authorized training activities. The information on this form is also used to create your ACS identification card. This registration process includes the taking of a Loyalty Oath and must be completed by an authorized official, so... ONLY COMPLETE THE SHADED PORTION and return to the Department of Emergency Services.

After your application is reviewed, you will be contacted. If you are accepted into the program you will need to arrange for an appointment to become registered as a Disaster Service Worker and be issued an ACS ID card.
